It's been a while...

It's been quite a while since I last posted. Sorry for that! To be honest, I kind of forgot I had a blog what with juggling the new baby, the toddler, the house, and the shop. I've been working extra hard lately, staying up way too late, trying to crank new items out so I can have more time for Christmas later.

Last year I was stressed up to my eyeballs with all the orders I received in Etsy. Practically everything in my shop is made to order, so I was staying up late every night trying to finish orders. I like to have them out the next day or at the latest the day after that. I've learned from last year, thou, so I'm going to try to have more stock ready to go before the rush hits. That means I'm going to be drowning in garlands and ornaments.

The dilemma I'm facing, though, is really how much I should make. We are moving at the beginning of December and staying with family the whole month so I will have to close shop until January. It's a terrible time since its right in the middle of my busiest season, but there's nothing I can do. I'm considering bringing as much product as I can with me, and buying more supplies when I get to my family's house, but I'm not sure how that's going to work out.

Thankfully, I have a bit of time to figure it all out.

So here is one of my latest creations. I avoided folding laundry during nap time yesterday to make it.

I'm planning on making at least one more something today during nap time. I have no idea what it will be, but I will try to show you all tonight or tomorrow.

My first post!

Today was a beautiful day. We've had quite a few beautiful days lately. It's almost as if spring is coming. But I know not to get my hopes up. Once I do we will suddenly get six inches of snow! I love this mild winter we are having in Alaska, and I don't want to jinx it!

I wanted to go outside and enjoy the sunshine today, but the temperature convinced me otherwise. I'm not sure how cold it was, but it wasn't exactly warm when I went to get the mail this afternoon. Speaking of mail, I ordered some hair clips online a few days ago and received them today. I am planning on adding felt hair clips to my shop soon. I will probably start with bows. More on that later...

Since before I got serious about my Etsy shop, I've had this loooooong list of project ideas. I add more to it almost every day. It's a bit overwhelming to even think about. But a few days ago I finally decided I'd better start knocking a few items off the list before it takes up ALL the memory on my iPad. The first section I tackled was the garlands. I spent days cutting out circle after circle and sewing garland after garland. I don't think I've made all that I'd planned yet, but I made a big dent in the list.

Next, I've decided to tackle the plush section. Owls are the first item on the list. I was just going to make one or two, but then I decided I wanted lots of different color examples. So, today that was my task. I've got a coffee table covered in felt and lots of colorful owls cut out.

My favorites? All of them! I love rainbows, so seeing all of them in a row makes me happy.

Tomorrow I will begin the sewing process. I am hoping to have them completed tomorrow, but with a little one in the house who knows what will happen...
